You got a taste at the Pier. Now let's keep it going.

The ROTP Hustle Progressive is a six-week course designed for beginners and early-stage dancers who want to learn Hustle grounded in technique, cultural context, history, and mutual accountability. No partner or prior dance experience required.

Over six 90-minute sessions, you'll develop your footwork, timing, lead-and-follow fundamentals, and floor awareness - while learning about the history and lineage of Hustle as a social dance form.

“Janū and Liv are very thoughtful, comprehensive, and inclusive instructors. I really appreciate their lessons.” - R.G.

What we'll cover.

Six weeks builds real fundamentals, not just steps to memorize.

Who's this for?

  • Beginners and intermediate beginners.
  • People with backgrounds in other partner dances, like West Coast Swing, Salsa, and more.
  • People who love disco, R&B, funk, and house.
  • Anyone who appreciates connection and joy.

“I really liked the scaffolding of each class around technical concepts and explanations of what movements should feel like.” - M.A

Janū Sung

Janū is a Seattle-based dancer, educator, and organizer whose background bridges Club and Street dance culture, and Eastern philosophical and movement traditions. He has trained with dancers and instructors across the country, with a foundation rooted in educators from New York City - the birthplace of Hustle - studying under some of the dance's most respected teachers.

With over five years of teaching experience, Janū has developed a pedagogical approach that balances technical rigor with cultural context, and continues to study and train himself - always updating his own knowledge so what he teaches stays current, well-grounded, and true to the dance's roots.

“Thank you so much for facilitating such a welcoming and thoughtful space!” - R.J

Why this is the best way to learn.

Grow with a Cohort

The same small group meets for six weeks, creating room to build trust, get ongoing feedback, and make progress through consistent practice.

Build Real Foundations

Each 90-minute class builds on the last, with time to review, drill, ask questions, and develop technique beyond memorized steps.

Dance with Context

Learn Hustle's history, lineage, and floor awareness, then bring what you've learned to an upcoming Hustle Social with your cohort.

“The class pacing was skillful in building upon previous learning and creating space for new challenges each time while also creating lots of space for finding our own unique flavor of how the movement lives in our own bodies.” - Katie
