About ROTP
A collective built on shared labor and collective imagination.
Who We Are
Rhythm of the People is a collective rooted in the belief that movement, mindfulness, music, and shared experiences can help foster deeper human connection, emotional resilience, and collective wellbeing.
Rather than centering a single teacher, artist, or perspective, ROTP is built as a collaborative effort shaped by many voices and lived experiences. The collective includes dancers, artists, movers, educators, organizers, program managers, designers, and DJs — everyday people who believe in the importance of creating a more connected and human future.
At its core is the belief that this work cannot belong to one individual alone — that meaningful community requires shared labor, shared care, and collective imagination.
Drawing inspiration from Black and Brown social dance culture, Asian contemplative traditions, and community gathering practices from around the world, ROTP blends movement, breath, culture, play, and intentional gathering into experiences that feel grounded, accessible, and alive.
The goal is not simply to teach classes or host events, but to help cultivate environments where people can experience joy, expression, healing, belonging, and a deeper sense of what it means to be human together.
What Guides Us
Our Core Values
Everything we create is guided by a set of principles that keep us rooted in purpose.
Collective Ownership
This work belongs to no single person. It is shaped by many voices, lived experiences, and shared imagination.
Radical Welcome
Everyone is welcome at the table. We create low-pressure, beginner-friendly spaces where connection feels possible.
Cultural Rootedness
We draw from Black and Brown social dance culture, Asian contemplative traditions, and global gathering practices.
Joy as Resistance
In a world that isolates, curates, and over-produces, joy becomes a radical act. We create space for aliveness.
Embodied Practice
We believe the body holds wisdom. Movement is not decoration — it is the doorway to presence and connection.
Shared Care
Meaningful community requires shared labor, mutual support, and collective accountability — from all of us.
